Core Cabling believe wholeheartedly in the benefits of staff development and have embraced the introduction of the Modern Apprentice Scheme within the company. Its ease of compliance, coupled with its ability to meet our industry skill sets, make this the ideal scheme for Core Cabling. Furthermore this provides vocational skills and hands-on experience for the apprentice enabling them to develop a career within the organisation.
Most Apprentices join Core Cabling on a Foundation scheme and then progress to the Advanced stage. If the apprentice has the ambition and capability, Core Cabling will encourage progression to studying for a part time degree, through the Higher Modern Apprenticeship route.
The Apprenticeship programme has impacted positively on staff motivation and retention. James Bailey joined Core Cabling when the company was formed in 1993 at the age of 16. His progression within the organisation from Apprentice to General Manager highlights how effective the scheme is for both employer and employee. |

Reflecting on his experience, James said: "Starting the Apprenticeship was one of the best choices I have ever made; the skills I have learnt are extremely useful in the workplace and have aided me in becoming a valued employee".
Apprentices are recruited from within the business on a rolling recruitment programme. James believes this scheme allows Core Cabling to be flexible in their recruitment process taking on apprentices as and when needed.
Core Cabling currently employ three apprentices who work alongside experienced members of staff. Whether they are working on site or in the office, staff members have a key role in transferring their own knowledge and experience which will be vital in helping the apprentices extend their learning of the industry and become successful members of the Core Cabling team.
